September 14, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT

This talk, Invasive Plants – Prevention is Key: How Homeowners are Making a Difference, will be presented by Cathy Kavassalis.

Cathy is a passionate gardener and conservationist who has been recognized with a Canada Sesquicentennial Award, a Provincial Natural Heritage Award, and most recently, an Ontario Horticultural Trillium Award in part for her efforts to promote invasive species awareness and management.

Cathy is a Past President of the Oakville Horticultural Society, a former Board Director of the Royal Botanical Gardens, an active member of the Halton Region Master Gardeners, and is now a co-founder of the newly-formed Canadian Coalition for Invasive Plant Regulation. Cathy enjoys working with other gardeners and folks who love plants. Through community outreach, Cathy hopes to inspire gardeners to help protect Ontario’s native flora and fauna by preventing the spread of invasive plants.
